My career so far
Awareways / 2021 - present
I joined Awareways at the very start of development for the Wave learning platform which we ended up launching in 2022. As a fun side-project, I also got to host the Awarecast podcast.
While being mentored by Miguel Bento, which I'm very thankful for, I got to develop my skills in Vue.js, TypeScript, Cypress, Storybook, WCAG, Sass and Docker. It grew me in to a knowledgeble and well-rounded expert.
After Awareways parted ways with Miguel in 2024, I took up the role of Frontend Lead, eventually hiring Cláudia Oliveira to help contribute to our frontend projects. While building our new Awareways website in 2025 I grew fond of working with Astro.
I'm still working to improve my soft skills as a leader and a coach, but it is very motivating to have more responsibilities and I'm very excited for what the future holds for me at Awareways!
Spotler (f.k.a. Webpower) / 2019 - 2021
During my software development college education I had two internships with Webpower. I started working there part-time in 2019 and then full-time after I graduated in 2020.
At Webpower I discovered my passion for frontend development and learned what it takes to build high-quality user experiences. My work mainly involved writing custom PHP scripts to process data, but working on the 'flow builder' frontend application with React (JS) was what I enjoyed the most.
After Webpower was aquired by Spotler Group in 2021, our team went through restructuring which made me think about my professional future. I started looking for a company that aligned with my values and would give me an opportunity to develop my frontend development expertise further. I found that at Awareways.
